About Jazz Nairn

After a gap of several years, jazz came back to Nairn in early 2014 when we set up Jazz Nairn. Jazz Nairn’s aim is to bring nationally and internationally renowned Jazz musicians to the Highlands. The longer term ambition is to host a festival in Nairn.

2015 gave us some high-quality evenings, kick-started in March by a visit from the legendary Joe Temperley accompanied by Brian Kellock. May saw the return of Rossano Sportiello combined with the well grooved rhythm of Dave Green and Steve Brown. After a summer break the fine sound of Tina May’s vocals and Nikki Isles’ piano delighted all with their great melody and warm style. Our year finished with some thoroughly foot tapping sounds from John Burgess and the Nova Scotia Jazz Band..

The return of a favourite from previous Festivals, Scott Hamilton, launched our 2016 programme. Scott was backed this time by John Pearce on piano and again the great sounds of Dave Green and Steve Brown.

The first visitor of 2016 to Jazz Nairn was the Tim Kliphuis Trio on 19th March which played an exciting musical blend of jazz (a la Stephan Grappelli and Django Reinhardt), classical and folk music.

We invite you to join us at future Jazz Nairn events.
